Norwalk has the ability to reach the full potential of it’s neighboring city-Cerritos. I enjoy living in Norwalk but I am not unrealistic when I see the difference from neighboring Cerritos. We have a lot of hardworking people in our community of modest incomes. Norwalk has a bit of an old school feel to it, similar to Whittier-but it is up to the City council members to push money into our community to attract people of neighboring cities. I have obligations in Irvine and it is rather sad seeing the deep contrast between Irvine’s main streets and Norwalk’s Pioneer Blvd. It is run down, along with several transients that it is quite easy to see people wanting to distance themselves from our community. Our main streets should be our main appeal to attract citizen’s, rather than retreating. Our council members and State Assembly members need to attempt to interact with their community, rather than simply doing the minimum at a city meeting. Their constituents would like to see them setting up rally’s, walking by their neighborhood talking to residents, pushing people to vote, and attempting to empower their community.

It is sad when you can’t identify values. There does not seem to be a cohesive vision for the city from either a planning, maintaining or community growth perspective. Without it, the community will further sink into decay.

Can’t say off the top of my head that Norwalk has an image associated with defined values.
From Community perspective, our values result from the type of city that Norwalk is.

Few Residents work in Norwalk. We leave our homes far behind each day for work. Norwalk is our Home Base, and we Value the safety and protection of our property.

Community usage of parks and sports activities has always been a part of Norwalk. We value Neighbors coming together to organize events and participate in making lives physically active.

Our Children’s success in Norwalk schools depends on the seriousness of the educators. We value the partnership of parents and teachers in the celebration of a child’s learning adventure.
